Antalya Hosted G20 Leaders Summit

Bringing world´s 19 biggest economies together with the EU, 10th G20 Leaders Summit was convened in Antalya on 15-16 November, 2015. Organized under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, G20 Summit focused on global economic and political issues during 7 sessions. Over 13.000 officials and delegates from member states along with some 3000 journalists participated in the Summit. U.S. President Barack Obama, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of the UK David Cameron, Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, President of France François Hollande, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau , President of the People´s Republic of China Xi Jinping along with many more heads of governments and states participated in the G20 Summit which represents around 90% of the global economy, 80% of trade and 2/3 of world´s population.

Over 13.000 state officials and delegates participated in the Summit

Organized under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, over 13.000 officials and delegates from member states along with some 3000 Turkish and international journalists participated in the Summit. Turkey has hosted 60.000 international guests this year together with this number.

17 Bilateral Discussions

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also had a number of bilateral discussions with leaders such as U.S. President Barack Obama and President of Russia Vladimir Putin. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had 17 bilateral discussions in total during G20 Leaders Summit.

Global economic issues on the agenda

While 2 working dinners and 5 main sessions were held during the G20 Summit, such agenda items as "Strengthening the Global Recovery and Lifting the Potential", "Enhancing Resilience" and "Buttressing Sustainability" was elaborately discussed. Additionally sessions with topics such as growth, investments, trade, employment and competitiveness were held during the event.

G20 Countries together against Terrorism

G20 Leaders’ Statement emphasized on ‘the determination for acting together ’ for improving economic growth and employment.
A call for help has also brought forward with regard to the refugee crisis. “G20 Statement on the fight Against Terrorism” the first joint declaration with regard to fighting against terrorism drawn up in the history of the Summit, has stated their determination of the leaders.

The next G20 Summit will be hosted by China in Hangzhou city.
What is G20?

The Group of Twenty (also known as the G-20 or G20) includes 19 individual countries having the most developed economies and industries along with the European Union. After the outbreak of the economic crisis in Asia in 1999, Ministers of Finances of the US and Canada called 20 countries to come together in an attempt to settle down the crisis. While the Summit was convened on finance minister´s level until 2008, the Summit has been held on heads of governments or heads of states following the global economic crisis.

G20 States

Along with member countries, such international organisations as International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, United Nations (UN), World Trade Organization (WTO), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and International Labour Organization (ILO) also takes part in the Summit.
